Well hello there, world.
My name is Kaitlin Monte and I am thrilled to be your new
Miss Southern New York
This past Sunday I competed with over a dozen fierce young women, and I cannot be more honored to represent such a killer group at the upcoming Miss New York pageant. Seriously, these ladies were amazing; from learning each others names by way of silly sounds to gulping down brownies backstage after on-stage question. It was a fast day (we were done by 2pm!) but such a good one.
After the pageant, I grabbed lunch with my sister queen Kate Perkins, her boyfriend Ben (who is so supportive of his girl!), and my good friend and fellow titleholder Tara Anne Lacuesta at Park Avenue Tavern. Big thanks to Eugene for taking such amazing care of us!
I guess I should introduce myself a bit:
My name is Kaitlin Monte.
I am 22 years old.
I am a full time actress.
I grew up in Rochester, NY. So did my mom and her parents. Dad grew up in Queens.
My family still lives in Rochester.
I have two younger brothers, an older sister, and 4 half siblings.
I began college at Clarkson University at age 16.
I later transfered to University of Tampa.
I got my first degree three months after turning 19, in Performing Arts.
I stand two courses shy of a second degree in PR and Consumer Psyc.
I live in New York City, specifically Astoria. ("Actor"ia!)
I study at Upright Citizens Brigade in Improv.
I perform with the USO Liberty Bells.
I love cooking, flowers, pugs, and The Office.
My platform is Breaking Down Bullying. I've been victim, and almost all of us will be at some point. Whether it's at school, in a relationship, or at work...being bullied is never a choice. I believe we can create a society where bullies have no place, and everyone is supported in finding safety, success, and happiness. When people know what they are worth, they will know what they don’t deserve.
Well, I have a lot to do now that I have this crown pinned on my head! It's going to be a fun trip to Miss New York in June!
